What is VisualBite, and who is it for?

VisualBite helps restaurants present their menu on a phone through a QR code. The service combines a custom mobile menu, 3D models of real dishes and handmade table stands. It is designed for restaurants that want guests to explore food before ordering, with a Swiss offer focused on Zurich. Existing restaurant examples shown on this site are from Serbia; they are not presented as Swiss clients.

How does a guest use a VisualBite menu?

The guest scans the table QR code with their phone camera, opens the menu link, chooses a language and browses the categories. They can open a dish in 3D and rotate it before deciding. On compatible phones, augmented reality can show the dish through the camera. The normal menu remains useful even when the phone does not support AR.

Is a 3D menu the same as augmented reality?

No. A 3D viewer displays a model that guests can rotate on a screen. Augmented reality adds a camera-based view of the model in the guest’s surroundings. Device and browser support vary, so AR is an additional experience rather than a requirement for reading the menu. A model helps explain presentation; ingredients and allergen information still need clear written descriptions.

How is the menu different from a PDF?

A PDF is a fixed document that may require zooming on a small screen. A custom digital menu can organise dishes into categories, show readable descriptions and prices, provide language choices and open 3D views. VisualBite designs the menu around the restaurant’s identity. Restaurants should still offer help or an alternative menu for guests who prefer not to use a phone.

How do scanning and launch work?

Start with an on-site test of one dish, with no contract or card required. For a full launch, agree the menu and visual direction, prepare representative dishes for capture, and provide current names, prices, ingredients and translations to review. VisualBite prepares the digital menu and models. Before printing QR stands, test the guest journey and approve the final content with your team. Timing is agreed for the individual restaurant.

How much does VisualBite cost in Switzerland?

Menu is CHF 129 per month with CHF 890 one-time setup. Growth is CHF 290 per month with CHF 1’490 setup. Performance is CHF 640 per month with CHF 2’490 setup. Prices exclude 8.1% VAT. All three include unlimited AR dishes and a menu in DE, FR, IT and EN. Annual payment waives setup; monthly plans can be cancelled with 30 days’ notice. Review the pricing section for the full inclusions and conditions.

Can guests pay through the menu?

Yes, on the Growth and Performance plans. Guests can pay their order or bill from the menu with TWINT, cards, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Payments are processed by Stripe and go directly to the restaurant’s own Stripe account. Stripe’s transaction fees are charged at cost, and VisualBite takes no commission. The restaurant remains responsible for receipts, VAT and refunds; online payment is optional and can be switched off at any time.

What do Guest Engagement and the AI Assistant include?

Growth adds Guest Engagement, intended to collect guest contacts and support return visits, alongside ordering through the menu, waiter and bill requests, and more detailed reporting. Performance adds an AI Assistant that recommends dishes and answers menu questions in a guest’s language. Restaurants should review the content and agree how guest data is collected before launch. AI answers should not replace staff confirmation for allergies or other critical dietary questions.

Which languages and locations are covered?

The Swiss offer includes German, French, Italian and English, with service focused on Zurich. Travel within the canton is included; visits outside it are quoted before booking. Menus, dish descriptions and special dietary terms should be reviewed by the restaurant in every language. Contact VisualBite to confirm an on-site visit and the requirements for additional locations.

Can we change dishes and prices after launch?

Yes. Unlimited menu updates are included in the plans. Menu includes one on-site visit per quarter, Growth one per month, and Performance two per month. Extra visits cost CHF 70. Tell VisualBite when dishes, prices or ingredients change so the text and 3D presentation remain consistent; a substantially different presentation may need a new capture.

What about QR stands, groups and the guarantee?

Additional handmade QR stands cost CHF 15 each. Groups with at least three locations start from CHF 490 per location per month and include multi-location features. The published 90-day guarantee offers a full setup refund if you are not happy, while you keep the menu. Confirm the scope, billing arrangement and applicable conditions with VisualBite before starting.
